Join Us for an Exciting Ride on the First Half of the Timber Trail
Meet us at our FourB base at 7.30 AM for a coffee. We will load your bikes and depart for Pureora by 8:30 AM. The drive to Pureora takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Riding will commence before 10:00 AM. A highlight of the first section is the expansive podocarp forests, one of the largest remnants of the once-dominant forests of central North Island. The forest has a fascinating history and is home to a variety of bird species, including kereru, popokatea (whitehead), tauhou (waxeye), kaka, and toutouwai (North Island robin). After ascending Pureora Mountain, you will encounter your first epic swing bridge: the Bog Inn Swing Bridge, located around the 22 km mark. This is an ideal spot to pause for a snack, with tables available for your convenience.
We will meet you at the Piropiro Flats DOC campground (41 km) where a gazebo will be set up for you to enjoy a refreshment and a sausage. Afterward, we will reload the bikes and head back to Taupo, wrapping up another fantastic day of riding.
The BBQ will be ready from 1:30 PM, and we aim to depart the area at 3:00 PM, arriving back at our base by 5:00 PM. If time allows, we may take a brief detour to Endeans Mill to explore the region's logging history.
Includes:
- Return transfers for you and your bike
- A sausage and a refreshment upon completion of your ride
