At 8:30 on day 1 : We pick you up form your accommodation in Taupo and transfer you to Pureora Forest,  the start of the Timber Trail which takes approx 1hr 15min. At the trail beginning we will give you a briefing of the highlights and what to watch out for before you begin the 39km ride to the Timber trail lodge. Highlights include the amazing Pureora Native podocarp forest, The climb up and over Mt Pureora and the 2nd largest swing bridge on the trail. While you are riding we will have transported your luggage for you to the lodge. The lodge provide all of your linen as well as a welcome pizza, dinner, Breakfast on day 2 and a packed lunch for Day 2. The lodge has a bar to enjoy a relaxing drink after a Hot shower and an epic day one of riding.


On Day 2 in the morning after breakfast (continental from 7am and cooked from 7:30am) you will ride the 2nd half of the trail to Ongarue where we will transport your bags to and be waiting to transport you back to Taupo. (aprox 2 hours for the return shuttle). 

Day 2 highlights include the largest swing bridge (Maramataha) on any NZ cycle way, (141m) more amazing Native forest, following the old tram ways and of course the only tram spiral you can ride in New Zealand .The Ongarue Spiral.

We provide the group with a satellite tracker so we can remain in touch and also keep track of where you are on the trail as there is minimal cell reception apart from a few spots which are sign posted, however this is not guaranteed.

Guide available on request- Get more out of your time on the trail. A guide will ensure safety and mechanical back up as well as offering insight into the rich history of the area and trail. We also build custom itineraries and can include the Great lake trail and Tongariro crossing in an up to 5 day adventure.
