A guided heli-hiking adventure in Kaimanawa Forest Park is an unforgettable experience that combines a breathtaking helicopter flight with an epic backcountry alpine hike. After soaring over the park’s rugged terrain and dense native bush, hikers are dropped at a remote high-altitude location. There are two heli-drop options available, depending on how far you wish to hike and the level of challenge you prefer.

From the drop point 1, a short ascent provides a warm-up before the guided descent begins, following untouched alpine terrain, ridgelines, and scree-based trails with sweeping views across the Kaimanawa ranges.
