Huka Falls river trail 17km self guided tour

Park at our shop and get fitted to one of our new hard tail mountain bikes (step through bike options available for easier use if needed) From our shop it is approx 800m to the Huka falls. Watch 220,000 liters of water per second flow over the falls and then ride along the trail up to a viewing platform for the Water falls. From here you follow the Waikato river for 6km towards Aritiatia dam. You will see a geothermal power station and the only place in New zealand that you can fish for prawns on the other side of the river. The dam opens 3 times in winter and 4 times in summer. 10am 12pm 2pm and in summer also 4pm. You cross the river at the dam via a bridge and return via the other side of the river. after about 5km you will briefly pop out next to the road and cross over a bridge with multiple pipes underneath transporting steam to the power station to generate electricity. You then head back into the forest to follow along an amzing geothermal stream before returning back out onto our shops road. travel along the road about 1km finishing back where your adventure began. The price includes 3 hours of hard tail bike hire, Helmet and we will give you a map to follow which also has information about the sights you will see.
Ebike and full suspension upgrades are available. We suggest starting 1 hour before the opening of Aratiatia dam to give you enough time to ride there and get a spot on the bridge to watch it open.
