Great Lake Trail Waihaha section Boat and road transfer package. (Own Bike one way shuttle)

We will pick you up from your pick up location and transfer you to Waihaha bridge on SH32, the start of the Waihaha ride. After a trail briefing, you then ride the 31km (Waihaha & Waihora sections) to the lake edge and finish off this section of trail, Here a boat will pick you up at the pre determined time to transfer you and your bike back to Kawakawa bay or Kinloch and your vehicle.
Highlights include the Waihaha waterfall, stunning lake views, echo rock and of course the scenic transfer on Great Lake Taupo back to Kinloch or Kawakawa at the end of this stunning section.
Choose your pick up location
A. Taupo I site pick up-
If you wish to be picked up at the Taupo I site departure is 9am, Please be there at 8:50am (free parking around the Taupo marina) Choose this option if you don’t have transport and are staying in Taupo or want to ride the Full Monty back to Taupo town via Mapara rd and acacia bay (big day) You may need to book a return shuttle from your finishing location, if you are not planning on riding all the way back to Taupo.
B. Whakaipo bay entrance pick up-
If you wish to be picked up in Whakaipo bay, Pick up is at 9:20am at the entrance of Whakaipo bay (the road is very rough). Park your car at the shelter in Whakaipo bay(with the trail maps) which is all the way to the right along the gravel road, then ride back out to the entrance on Mapara road. approx. 10min ride..
Choose this option if you want to ride the W2K section as well after the boat transfer. (Monty itinerary)
C. Kinloch pick up 9:45am
we pick you and your bike up from the shelter next to the fire station in the marina carpark. (opposite the marina)
choose this option if after your ride you want the boat to drop you Kawakawa bay and ride to Kinloch (extra 9km on the K2k) or get dropped straight back to Kinloch and your vehicle...
NOTE- We can currently offer this trip mid week by charter using a smaller boat with 6 max people and bikes.
Towering volcanic rock cliffs, spectacular views and a waterfall hidden deep in the Waihaha Valley are highlights of the Waihaha section. The trail has been built with flowing corners and fun downhills, and some short switchback climbs to keep you honest!
Please note that in winter there is only one option scheduled for the boat pick up at 3 pm....In summer there is an earlier option. If you are a big group we can offer other times by negotiation.
